Workshops and Mini-Courses
(Unless otherwise noted, all workshops will three hours long)
MUC (Managing Unknown Contacts)
In this workshop, we will build the skills necessary to deal with possible hostile encounters before they exhibit aggressive behavior. Using a combination of footwork, physical actions, and verbalization, we will ensure we are not taken by surprise and are prepared to protect ourselves and our loved ones. Some of the specific workshop iterations will be focused on MUC skills alone and others will be how we add things like handheld EDC lights, OC spray, empty hand defensive moves, and drawing a firearm correctly into the MUC framework.
Close Contact Handgun Prep
In this workshop, we will focus on the handgun drawstroke that has a built in retention and close quarters shooting aspect and how it interacts with the MUC concept. We will also be working on making sure that once the gun is out, we have it at the appropriate point of compression or extension, and we will be doing it against a living, moving person so the student will know that he grasps it.
Clinch for Self-Defense
This is a short but intense workshop designed to improve the ability of everyone to dominate the standing entanglement. We will especially be looking at ways to defend takedowns and how to dis-entangle from attackers.
Entangled Handgun Skills
This workshop will be a deeper dive into being able to control the clinch, and have the freedom to introduce a weapon at the appropriate time, as well as denying that same ability for the bad guy assaulting you. This class is only available for graduates or the Entangled Handgun course, or ECQC or EWO as taught by Craig Douglas. The main reason being is that we are not spending much time on instructing new concepts, but rather performance coaching and tweaking what you already know into an even superior skill.

There should be all the details released very, very soon. Probably within the next two weeks.
Will the class in IL be at Off the X’s gym?
Not this one. It will most likely be in Aurora or Naperville. I will be back at Off The X’s gym late spring of 2017
